:
Experience Serenity and a Deep Creative Harmony and
Balance that Flows to Every Aspect of Life.
Our goal is to share these contemplative Ancient Arts
.
The double action of the Yin and the Yang, on the one
hand in conflict as opposites, on the other hand
complementary as two halves of the whole (Tao), is
also translated into principles of tension and balance
in composition: in the rendering of perspective, in
placing, in painting, in music, in movement and in
circulation of Qi.
It is attained through technical means but governed by
a constant connecting current, that is, by laws of
nature and Tao, in contrast to laws of science, which
provide the rules of perspective in traditional
Western painting, music, and movement.
Chinese painting, with concern to heightening the
effects of distance and vastness of space associated
with the concept of Tao and the Yin and Yang, gives
concern to the idea of yuan chin (far-near
perspective). The tension and balance set up by far
and near, obscure and clear, unseen and seen, are Yin
and Yang.
The movement out of the void of far distance, forward
into clarity of the middle distance and foreground,
and back again , is analogous to the cycle of coming
out and returning to the Tao. The significance of
space as the harmony of the Great Void can be seen in
how the painter invites the eye of the spectator to
move through the painting , ever conscious of depths
of distance and vast expanses of sky and water
(mists). This is brought to view from many points,
never from a single position or at one moment of time.
The concept of Tao, the ideal of conduct and thought
expressive of the way of union, continues to be of
fundamental importance governing technique, theory and
attitude of the work presented herein.
